WE #6 - Communication

Communication means exchanging information. There are many forms of communication. You can do it verbally or even by your body language. Communication is very important in the work field because it is important for every one to be aware of what is taking place. I could improve in this area by paying more attention. There are a few times at work that something has taken place and I was not aware, simply because I was not listening. Listening is very important when it comes to communicating because if you do not listen then it is pointless to make you aware of the situation.

WE#4-Teamwork

Teamwork is working together to get something accomplished. Teamwork is very important when it comes to working in groups because otherwise it takes longer to complete tasks since there is no cooperation. If you cooperate, compromise, and get along with your teammates or co-workers, then you are likely to enjoy it more and to get the assignment done faster. Putting a couple of minds and ideas together often leads to a better ending.

Social Media Lawsuit

In May of 2013 a school bus driver was fired from his job due to his post on Facebook in regards to hunger. He over heard a student discussing how they were hungry because they could not afford lunch, so "Mr. Johnny" posted on Facebook how he thought the school should give a credit in situations where the lunch could not be paid for; but he also discussed in his post hunger across the nation. He sued the school for his job back, but also for a change in the schools to stop student hunger.

Voki

Just posted my Voki! Everyone is welcome to view it and tell me what you think!

WE#3-Respect

Respect means honoring others values, authority, and property. It means thinking of others before yourself. I am a very respectful person because I was raised that way; however, sometimes I slip up and let my temper get the best of me. One thing that I need to work on when is comes to respect is holding my tongue when something upsets me. I do my best to never disrespect anyone, however, sometimes I think before I speak, especially if I am upset.

What is the distinction between a file and a folder? How is each one visually represented?

A folder can hold many different files. Each document is considered a file, then that file can be stored inside a folder. For example, if I had a folder titled Jobs then I could put any information pertaining to that folder inside of it, such as a resume, which would be considered the file. A folder is represented with the title of the folder and the picture of a folder, than when you open it you can see all of the files. The files are shown by the type of document that they are. A word document contains the word image.

WE#2 - Attendance

Attendance is showing up to the correct place on time. Attendance is important for many reasons. One reason is because in the work field, your pay check depends on it. It is also important because if you do not show up then you could be missing out on important information. Whenever you can not attend something that you are required to be at, then it is extremely important for you to notify your supervisor. One think that I struggle with is being on time. I lose track of time very easy, so I always show up right on time. Although I always show up, I always feel unprepared because I missed getting my things together for the day and I also feel as if I missed out on important information that I could have gathered had I got there a little bit earlier. I also risk being late because you never know when a wreck could happen and traffic is backed up, or even if you simply forgot to get gas and run out. It is always important to be on time, prepared, and at the correct place.

My name is Lacy and I am a student at Bainbridge State College. I am majoring in Medical Administrative Technology. My goal is to graduate after the completion of one more semester. After graduation I hope to get a job in Thomasville, GA or Valdosta, Ga as a medical coder while I return to school for my Bachelors degree in Business Management. My hopes are to one day hold an administrative position for a hospital in any field dealing with the business side of health care. I am currently working as a receptionist at Albany Pediatrics. Some of my favorite things to do are shop, cook, and spend time with my family. I am not married, however, after graduation I plan to marry my boyfriend of four years. I have a 2 year old nephew who is my entire world. Every second of my spare time, which is very little, is spent with him.

WE #1 - Character

Character is one of the biggest things that you can bring to a work place. Your character is what represents you. Character shows your willingness to work, your trustworthiness, your reliability, and your initiative. Your character states who you are as a person. If you are trustworthy and dependable, then you are not only setting a good example but also proving to your supervisor that you are a good worker and that you take pride in your life and what you do.
